Run a baseline AI visibility audit
Before doing anything else, run a free AI visibility audit at ArtificialPulse. You need to know where the client currently stands - which queries they appear in, which they don't, and how they compare to 2–3 competitors. Every tactic below builds on this baseline.
Update Google Business Profile completely
Google Business Profile is a primary data source for local AI queries. Ensure: full description with relevant keywords, accurate business category, complete service list, updated hours, and recent photos. Many profiles are 60–70% complete - finishing them shows fast results.
Request 10 reviews on G2 or Trustpilot this week
Review platforms are real-time sources for Perplexity and training data for ChatGPT. A campaign to get 10 genuine new reviews from real customers is one of the fastest paths to visibility improvement. Reach out directly to satisfied customers with a specific, easy review request.
Create or update a Wikidata entry
Wikidata is used directly by Perplexity and improves entity recognition in ChatGPT. Create a Wikidata entry for the brand (or update an incomplete one) with properties: name, founding date, headquarters, industry, product/service description, and official website.
Add Organization schema to the brand website
Organization schema markup (JSON-LD) on the homepage gives AI crawlers structured information about the brand - name, description, founding date, social profiles, logo. Takes 30 minutes to implement and has immediate Perplexity and Google AIO benefits.
Get included in one relevant directory or comparison site
Category directories (Capterra, G2, Product Hunt, relevant vertical directories) are high-priority sources for Perplexity. If the brand is missing from any relevant category directory, add it. Perplexity will typically pick up the new citation within days.
Publish one HARO / journalist request response
HARO (Help A Reporter Out), Qwoted, and ProfNet send journalist requests for expert sources. A single well-placed expert quote in a high-authority publication is worth more AI visibility than 20 blog posts. Sign up, respond to relevant requests, aim for 1 placement in a recognized publication.
Rewrite the brand's About page for entity clarity
The About page is one of the most crawled pages for brand entity information. Ensure it contains: a clear, jargon-free company description; founding year; specific industry; key product/service categories; and notable differentiators. Write it as if describing the company to someone who has never heard of it.
Pitch one "best of" listicle inclusion
"Best [category] for [use case]" articles in recognized publications are the highest-impact AI visibility tactic. Identify 2–3 existing articles that include competitors but not the client. Reach out to the author/editor directly with a compelling case for why the client should be included in a future update.
Run a post-audit AI visibility check to measure change
After implementing the above tactics, re-run the AI visibility audit. Perplexity visibility changes should be measurable within 2–4 weeks. This gives you before/after data to show the client - and a clear story about what's working.
The right mindset for quick wins
Quick wins are real, but they're building blocks. Start here. Tactics 2–5 can show measurable Perplexity improvement within 2–3 weeks. ChatGPT improvement takes longer - 2–6 months - because it depends on training data updates. Set client expectations accordingly: you'll have early Perplexity data quickly, ChatGPT data over time.
